The highly unique and intricate squash blossom design originated from the Navajo. They were the first known Southwestern tribe to work with the design. The naja – the middle piece of the necklace – was created as a talisman of protection. It’s also believed to represent a womb, with a single turquoise stone suspended from the pendant which symbolizes a child growing within. This squash blossom necklace was handcrafted and sourced directly from a Native artisan and is adorned with Carico Lake turquoise stones. Featuring 5 trefoil turquoise petals on both sides.
